（Blog）秋の気配 -An Autumn sign-

私は3歳から19歳まで八木山動物公園にほど近い八木山本町一丁目の高台で育ったのですが、夏に30度を超えた記憶はほとんどありません。八木山は市街地から西に約5㎞程の文字通り山で標高は約150ｍですが、四季を通して西は蔵王連峰、北は船形連峰、東や南は太平洋から風が通り、気温も市街地より1℃、体感では2℃以上低く感じられます。庭に来る蝉もお盆を過ぎて夏休みの宿題を思い出す頃にツクツクボウシがなく位でした。35年ぶりに仙台に再び住むようになり初めての夏、今度は五橋という市街地の一角ではありますが正直これまで住んでいた東京都大田区と然程変わらない猛暑とミンミンゼミに連日辟易していました。そんな中、今朝5時半過ぎに広瀬川河川敷を朝ランしていたら八本松マンションの先、中河原緑地あたりで下の空に出会いました。見上げれば秋の気配、その時の気温は26℃でしたが、ひんやりとした涼風を正面から受けながらの気持ちの良い瞬間でした。（2020年8月18日）

I was born and grew up on the hill of Yagiyama located nearby Yagiyama Zoological Park. I don't have so much memories of the summer days when the temperature exceeded 30 C (86F) when I was childhood. Since Yagiyama is the mountain at an altitude of 150m, located 5 km west from the downtown, the temperature is always 1C lower and the sensible temperature is 2 C lower because the refreshing winds always blow from either Zao Mountain range, i.e. the West, or from Funagata Mountain range, i.e. the North, or from Pacific Ocean, i.e. East and South through the four seasons. I came back to Sendai after 35 years interval and felt that the climate drastically changed from the past and the summer peak is more or less the same as Tokyo where I lived for a long time. However, I found the below beautiful autumn sky when I was running along the Hirosegawa river at 5.30 am this morning. The temperature was already 26 C but the cool breeze made me refresh and reminded me that the season is gradually but certainly changing here in Sendai. （18/AUG/2020)
